Consignment Guidelines

Should you Consign?

Consignment Guidelines

All items must be "new" or barely worn condition:
No stains, fading, discolorations (neck/collar, underarm, etc), tears, moth holes, torn linings, pills, snags, puckers, lint, pet hair, odors (body, cigarette, etc.), missing or loose button/closures/embellishments, wonky zippers.

All items must be clean and sellable:

Cleanliness & appearance of your garment is crucial.  Ladies, please wash your garments before bringing them in.  All items need to be on hangers for your first initial visit.

Subsequent dropoffs can be either hanging or neatly folded.  No trash bags please.  Items requiring any attention whatsoever may not be accepted and donated to charity.

Additional fees may be assessed on batches requiring special attention or batches with a high donate rate.  PLEASE LOOK OVER YOUR ITEMS BEFORE BRINGING THEM IN.  We are not a charity drop-off.  If it's not in pristine or near pristine condition, we cannot sell it.

All items must be Designer, Better Labels/Brands:

Lesser quality items or mass market merchandise are usually cheap enough new, so we accept few of these brands unless pristine.  If an item regularly retails between $10 to $20 new, it may not be consign-worthy.  You are better off donating it.

WearOvers pricing strategy and seasonality:

WearOvers selling cycle is seasonal.  Seasonal merchandise brought in during current season will be put on selling floor during current season unless drop occurs during season switch, then said merchandise is considered off season and stored until  next season block.  The earlier in the season an item is brought in, the longer it has on the selling floor before seasonal markdowns take place.

WearOvers pricing strategy is to find all our item a home.  Our goal is to SELL your items not display them infintely.  We price all items to sell based on our experience on the saleability of used goods.  Some items are worth more and take longer to sell.  Alternatively, some items are more likely to sell at a discount.

We accept "In-style" current merchandise:

We accept current styles or clothing that has a timeless style.  We realize this is somewhat subjective and as such, we will provide an outline of criteria during initial consultation.

Clothing that is outdated or past trend will not be accepted.  WearOvers reserves the right to decline any/all merchandise, donate what's not saleable.

50/40 split, pricing, expectations:

WearOvers bases pricing on an item's saleability.  Which departments sell best will be explained during your initial consultation.  Overall, we work hard to sell your items at a fair price.

Consignor receives 40% of final selling price in money, or 50% if using as store credit.  You can also do a combination of both.

Most Wanted by Our Shoppers...Accessories!!:

Our shoppers are always looking for good quality accessories.  Handbags, Totes, Small Leathergoods, Scarves and especially Jewelry, both Costume & Fine.  Handbags and Jewelry are the hottest sellers!

Acceptance Schedule ~ Must call ahead:

When the mood to clear out your closet or jewelry box strikes, you can drop off items any day we are open through the 20th of each month if you are an existing consignor.

If you are a potential NEW consignor, you must first come in and check us out to see if we are a good match for your needs.  New Consignors appointments are available every month after the 20th unless we are full.  We do not take casual walk-ins.  There is an upfront Consultation Fee required at first Meeting to review potetntial consignable goods.  We reserve the right to deny any NEW accounts at any time.

NEW consignors must have a minimum of 20-25* pieces to start an account.  For your first consultation, those items must be hung on hangers.  Make sure to present your best, carefully selected, most saleable pieces.  *You should bring extra items in case not all items make the cut.  We recommend having 30 total pieces to ensure same day acceptance.  Backup items can be neatly folded in shopping bags/boxes.  Your job as a NEW consignor is to "SELL" it to us first, before we can sell it in the store.

Your items will be assessed at the first meeting with the owner.  There is an one time Consultation Fee due prior to Assessment.  We do our best to meet with you within minutes of your arrival.  Our consultation blocks are reserved hourly.  Please be sure to set aside approximately 30-40 minutes or more for the assessment.
